As I flip through the photobook, three vivid memories from the Camino de Santiago strike me deep in my soul.
Wandering alone from Portugal into Spain, the rhythmic sound of my boots on the endless gravel road.
Then, a fateful encounter with a guy who became my dearest friend. From that moment on, we pressed forward together toward the final goal.
A local soccer boy on the coast shouting “Hey Amigo!” into the sea breeze, as if blessing our brotherhood. Finally, the explosive rush of emotion right in front of the grand Santiago de Compostela Cathedral, surrounded by the voices of friends who waited for our arrival.
The physical exhaustion, the lifelong bond, and the raw spirit of the pilgrimage, they are all right here.

A pilgrimage road in northwestern Spain, leading to the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela.
People come from all over the world, with or without faith, each carrying their own reason and simply walking forward.
Many are looking for something religious. Others have reached a turning point in life and hope to find something.
The reasons are as many as the people. But what everyone does is the same. Walk. That was all.

I also set foot on this path.
But the night before I started, wrapped in a sleeping bag in a cheap guesthouse in Portugal, I could barely sleep.
“Can I really walk more than 300 kilometers?”
That question sat in my chest, and even with my eyes closed, unease crept up slowly from somewhere deep inside…
